This apparently very old flower form was found in a ditch by a creek with other identifiable flowers. The soil was rich, moisture not an issue. Very large flowers on comparatively very small bulbs. No evidence of a rim ring, no sign of fade in any of the cups. It looks like the same flower form as an old "Leedsii" flower called ‘Elegans’ which was sold for some years in cheaper American catalogs, but ‘Elegans’ either had a cup that faded to white or a rim ring (dep. on the description).
ANY suggestions?
this came from a county in east Georgia, where the ladies in the 1920s or 1930s went on a beautification project and planted daffs on the country roads, and the place is awash in daffodils, more than usual for Georgia….
