More of the South Island from the North.
In the bright sunset Photo , Arapawa Island is just right of center.
The other is for David Adams.
David mentioned Mana Islandin his note on Karehana Sunset , his named daff.
It is the very distinctive  flattop  island just of the Porirua coast.
The mountain , clearly visible , is  Tapuaenuku ,2885 metres , in the South Island, usually visible from the Cook Strait Ferry.
It is the tallest mountain in N Z that is not in the main Southern Alps range ; also with another claim to fame …
Sir Edmund Hillary , of Everest fame , wrote that it was the first real mountain that he climbed.As a young man doing military
training at the nearby Blenheim air base [Woodbourne ] , it was a weekend adventure  for the rising star.
