From the Editor’s Worktable

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen in the wonderful world of daffodils…

I have just reread Loyce McKenzies single page artice (page 318) in the June issue of The Daffodil Journal and I would be truly remiss if I did not tell all of you how very fortunate we are to have this lady as our Editor.  I hope that each of you will take the time to send her e-mail mailbox into ‘overload’ by sending her a nice note.

For several years I had the opportunity to serve on the Board of the American Boxwood Society.  For reasons I prefer to withhold, I resigned that position over two years ago.  However, that plant society is currently experiencing a decline in membership (ours is growing!); cost overruns in printing (we have a wonderful Treasurer and hands-on Editor); and the truth of the matter is, sadly enough, the Editor of The Boxwood Bulletin does not even identify himself in that society’s quarterly (they’re considering going to 3 times a year) publication.  Sorry, it was not my intent to take a ‘swipe’ at anyone, I would only hope they might try to follow in our footsteps!

Loyce McKenzie (along with Jaydee Ager) are both wonderful and highly professional ladies.  We owe them a real debt of gratitude, so I hope you will each take the time to join me in sending along well deserved accolades!  Thanks!

Regards,

Ross

PS  Please keep up the good work, ladies!

I would second Ross’s comments! I KNOW what Loyce goes through every three months (all year long, actually) to get another issue of the Journal all pulled together, printed, and mailed.

  2. Friends,

Yes, we in ADS are blessed to have both Loyce McKenzie and Jaydee Ager.  As a former President of ADS (1986 – 88), I can assure you that having a good editor and executive director makes the president’s job much easier.
