Hi DaffNetters –
Yesterday SWODS had their summer meeting. Tom Stettner and Frank Vonder Meulen presented a nice program showing and explaining the Hot Water Treatment equipment they’d put together and with which they have had great success.
So, I had HWT on my mind as I watching Ming Can Cook this morning when a guest chef was shown coddling an egg in a machine they referred to as a Thermal Circulator. (Yes, a light bulb went on over my head and I said out loud ‘What???”)
There was a metal pot with a contraption on top showing the temperature, water circulating around an egg.
Sure looked a lot like what HWT is supposed to do.
So I Googled ‘Thermal Circulator’ and here are some websites that might be of interest:
Now this contraption costs about twice what Frank and Tom’s unit does but something to keep in the back of the brain in case one shows up at a flea market.

Hi all,
Exactly what I have been using for the last couple of years with a trusty Coleman cooler for my container. I got my circulator as lab surplus so was very cheap. Not digital control like the fancy new ones, but still can easily maintain the water temperature to better then 1° accuracy. I’ll have to check the wattage on mine, but it will heat the 25 gals or so that my cooler will hold to 44°C in about 3 hrs (if I am to lazy to start with warm water).
