After the very cold winter condition, spring has all of a sudden arrived early in New Zealand, with very mild temperatures for this time of the year, daffodils (and especially miniatures) are exploding everywhere and is transforming the garden, parks and our daffodil patch into a riot of colours.
Even the Poets are confused and well ahead of the season, with the early N.poeticus flowering right now in late August, the equivalent of Feb-March for the Northren Hemisphere, one of those rare, unusual seasons.
They normally should be flowering Sept-October.
These early Poets were bred, by our own well known hybridiser Max Hamilton, a most welcome addition for the daffodil show bench and growers.
Enjoy the pictures.
