A couple of pictures from the wild that might help with identification.  Note the limestone rocks – the soil in the crevices, if you ever get to see it is distinctly acid, contrary to what one might think. Humus decomposition must be faster than dissolution of limestone rock!! – or whatever the explanation might be?
