bereavement notification

Friends, it is sadly my duty to report the death of ADS Life Member, Elizabeth (Bettie) Madsen, of Black Rock, NC, on 19 SEP.  Bettie was a retired ADS Accredited Judge.  She joined ADS in APR 1967.  I had received a note from Bettie in MAR 07, saying she was moving to a nursing home, and that I could discontinue sending her Daffodil Journal.  I kept up the Journal delivery, hoping it might bring her some enjoyment.  I had heard from one of our ADS members that Bettie had died over the weekend, but have only just now been able to confirm this by locating a brief obituary listing in the Asheville, NC newspaper.  If my memory is correct, Bettie was a National Garden Club Flower Show Judge, and also involved with, and skilled in the floral art design, of Ikebana.   I trust that others will supply correct info or more detailed info.  I remember Miss Bettie as a real southern lady, sweet, and always a pleasure to sit with at Convention dinners.
