Hi Daffnetters,
We were pleased to have Jaap and Truce Leenen from Sassenheim , Holland , visiting our area today .
The weather was showery and cold all day ; however the visitors saw the plantings at Reg Culls , Wilf Halls
and the Muhunoa – Ohau plantings of Dianne and Peter Irwin, John Hollever and myself .
Over a warm coffee and lunch at the Ohau Cafe I was interested to hear how flowers and bulbs are
sourced from many countries and marketed internationally .
I will never complain again when I have problems with flowers on a one hour journey from Otaki to
Wellington after hearing of the problems sending daffs from Holland via Helsinki and Poland to Moscow
in the middle a a Russian winter storm .
I hope the all our visitors have an enjoyable N Z stay and am sure that , despite the weather , Geraldine
will provide a warm welcome and some fine daffodils for all to see.
Cheers John.
