Basal rot and tulips

I’ve got an area that has developed a basal rot problem.  I removed all daffodils this year and plan to rest the area for a couple of years.  Can I put tulips there would that perpetuate the problem and defeat the purpose of removing the daffodils?

  1. The basal rot fungus which attacks tulips is a different form of the species Fusarium oxysporum than the one which attacks daffodils.  Basal rot of narcissus is caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. narcissi whereas the basal rot of tulips is caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. tulipae.

  2. So I should be able to put tulips in this questionable ground without giving the narcissi fusarium anything to live on?  Good!  I might possibly have perhaps sort of ordered just a few more bulbs than I have space for.  Again.
