I’m not sure why everyone is calling the season over. I reckon I could still pick a good 12 from my patch with several cultivars still to open. Mind you on Saturday I picked both Dailmanach and Rapture from the same field for the Woodend show. And no the Raptures were not planted in August. They were planted less than a week after the Dailmanach. The first year down flowers have come late but all together. The two year down patch was around four weeks early. An unusual weather pattern caused this.
The Woodend Show is the last for our season. Entries were very good with four entries in the NDS Medal Class. We won the class showing Spun Honey, Dailmanach, Criss Cross, Twilight Zone, 86/114A and Pink Champagne. Photo attached. Aaron Russ was second and Malroze third.
