blooming in Ohio

Friends,
Several little flowers are blooming in Ohio today.  The photo is of N. bulbocodium subsp. bulbocodium var. nivalis.  I have no idea why it’s blooming so early, as it’s not usually a winter blooming one.  I suppose our warmer than usual November brought it on.
I still have blooms of ‘Peppermint’ 10 W-W.  I posted a photo of the first bloom on 15 November; four more blooms opened shortly thereafter and those are the ones still in bloom.  There are probably five or six more buds still to come.  This is a good one for a long blooming season.
‘Silver Palace’ 10 W-W is also just opening, several weeks earlier than last year, as is a bud on some seed from Lawrence Trevanion.
The pots are now in the cold garage, under lights, where they’ll stay unless the temperature goes above freezing.
