I agree with you Marilynn, You just don’t know for sure what is fertile and what is not until you try it yourself. what didn’t work for someone else under their conditions might work for you in your area and conditions. If it’s really special, even though you fail the first time, try more than once. It might work the second or third time.

If a certain flower has characteristics you want or need in your cross try it. Becky, Daff seek is a wonderful tool for hybridizers but don’t fail to make a cross just because Daffseek shows a certain flower or pollen not to be fertile. It might be under your conditions. Two that comes to mind is Lemon Tree and Three Of Diamonds. Daffseek shows these to be only seed fertile. a check of my records shows I have 10 crosses that took using Lemon Tree pollen and 4 using Three Of Diamonds pollen. There are others I have run across also.
