These are one of the secondary cavity nesting species we have here in North America. They love sunflowers, peanuts and in this case Pecans. It is resting on the hand of a local gentleman, Scotty Scott. These birds are slightly smaller than the Eastern Bluebirds but will use the same types of nest boxes that the bluebirds will.
