Nashville friends

We would like to hear from our friends in the Nashville, TN area.  Fourteen inches of rain in two days!  The news last night said that is a record rainfall for the area for the entire month of May….and it is only May 2!

  1. Lynn, We’re fine and our house up on its little hill from the creek and street is fine, too. The street in front of the house looked more like a raging river yesterday afternoon, you couldn’t even see the street as it merged with the creek, but the street is clear again now. The water was the highest we’ve ever seen and some people say the flooding has passed a 70 or even a 100 year record.
There are some areas south of us in the Franklin area and north of us in Nashville with houses and businesses flooded and too many streets to count. The Cumberland River downtown is flooding. Our sunroom took in a little water that came pouring down the hill behind us. We have some loss of gravel from the driveway and erosion in the back and side yard with dirt washed away. David said maybe it is time we fill back in with rock and make that stream-feature we’ve thought about before. ;->
I hope Dick and Sandra and all the others have escaped with little damage, too.

  2. Happy you are ok and suffered little damage. Phyllis Hess

  3. I have a granddaughter who decided to stay in Nashville when her mother moved to New Mexico.  I have not heard back from her and now have e-mailed my daughter to see if she has heard anything.
    Just a little worried.

  4. Donna, I'm sure she's fine, but she may not have electricity or internet access if you were expecting to hear back via email.  The science center near downtown has electricity, but was going to be without phones or internet service today, so I didn't go to work.  They decided to close to the public and staff could come in or take a vacation day.  It wil take NES to get power back to some areas.

Let me know if you need me to check on her.  I'll be going into Nashville tomorrow.  If you want to send me off Daffnet her address or phone number, I'll see what I can find out.

    Becky
