keukenhof

Hello Everyone,
The Canterbury Horticultural Society has an extensive tour programme which earns around $30 000 profit each year. A recent tour included a visit to Keukenhof. The group were met at the gate by Jan Pennings who hosted them to morning tea in the Keukenhof Boardroom then accompanied the group throughout the day. In the words of the tour leader ‘We were treated like royalty’ Thanks Jan.
On their visit to Chelsea Flower Show they approached the Pennings’ gold medal display. Jan’s son in law greeted the group with ‘I have been expecting you.’ For a down under group on foreign soil these welcomes made them feel very special and part of the displays.
For pictures of the visit go to the Canterbury Horticultural Society website. This will surely bring back memories for those of us who visited Keukenhof in 2008. The CHS website is currently being developed but will give some idea of what a Horticultural Society can do. I am involved with the Junior Gardeners group.

  1. David, what a gorgeous website! And thanks for sharing the photos of the trip to Keukenhof and England. It is great to see it and Jan again, even if only in photos. Ahh, to be in Holland again in the springtime! Here’s where I found the photos:
