Garden ornaments

I’d bet there isn’t a daffodil grower out there who doesn’t have at least one garden ornament among their plants.  Most of us have a host of them.

One of my best friends growing up was Gwen Asbury.  She recently sent me the link above to an article about her younger brother, Kelly Asbury, who is an animated film creator/director in Hollywood.  His latest work is a film called Gnomeo and Juliet scheduled for release in February 2011 by Disney.  It follows the same story as Romeo and Juliet, but involves garden figures as the characters with well known actors and singers as the voices.

Everything Kelly has worked on in the past has been terrific and no doubt this film will be also.  I wanted all my plant friends, especially those on daffnet to make a note of this film and plan to see it.  Some of Kelly’s other films are Toy Story, The Little Prince, Shrek, and The Little Mermaid.  Elton John wrote the score for this latest film.

No doubt this will spark a new interest in gardening for people of all ages.

  1. Sounds like this will be a welcome relief as I am so tired of the movies that have to ruin a story with the token X rated stuff!  My lawn and garden ornaments are real, live, miniature chickens, but when my boys were little I would get recordings of the classics from the wonderful Ashland, Or. library.  I knew they were listening when I noticed that playing house had morphed to Romeo and Juliet and when we went to the dump, it was to a ditty set to the tune of the William Tell Overture :)
