re Division 3 W.W. Premier S.I. Show

To those interested.

Of the division 3 South Island Premiers posted today on daffnet it is surprising to find that the New Zealand judges chose a mis-named premier 3W-W.  This flower is certainly not Polar Convention, it is however an excellent example of a 3W-W.  The first one  to e-mail me the correct name of this well known variety will receive one of my new registrations (‘Try Line’) this coming summer.  Unfortunately, I have to exclude all overseas members and the exhibitor of the flower.

Come on.  Give it a go.  Show your identification skills.

Cheers,
John.

  1. Hi John and all, this flower was picked from my row of Polar Convention of which you gave me the parent stock.  Because the weather was so bad I picked it just as the first petals unfurled, bought it inside and opened it in the kitchen.  I could probably show you where it was picked from and a whole row of similar flowers which will be out now.  I would go and look if I didn’t have the flu and it wasn’t raining again!  So I don’t see how it can be anything else.  Have not had Sea Dream in the patch for years, never grown Polar Morn or Placid Sea. It has a lot more substance than Sea Dream which is just opening in the naturalised stock – the Sea Dream flowers’ petals are inclined to be a bit floppy especially with all the rain we have had and it has a long neck, it also grows larger as it matures.  As with many varieties Daffseek shows quite a variation in the Polar Conventions photographed, some with mucro and others with little mucro and rounded petals.  Polar Convention is a great multiplier for me and very floriferous.

    Regards to all, Denise
