Daffnet Digest, Vol 312, Issue 34

Dear Stevene:

I live in Sacramento, have grown the sorts of things you
describe in similar, but not identical situations here and
at a higher elevation in the foothills, and might possibly
be able to respond in more detail and with a greater degree
of relevance if I knew exactly where in northern California
we were talking about.
If you can get to him before his market flower operation
goes into full swing,  Bill Welch (the infamous Bulb Baron)
could be of great assistance to you in terms of the winter
and very early spring (as well as fall) blooming varieties.
He seems to have devoted a great deal of time and breeding
ingenuity in extending the season in our part of the world.
As recompense, I would of course expect to at least be
invited to view your fields of dreams at some future date.
Respectfully,
Michael Larmer
(who is currently panic stricken that Ms. Whitman
might possibly be my next Governor.)
