In flower today

Perhaps this is one of the best of a very large batch of seedlings from ‘Habit’ x ‘Emerald Sea’. It is also the first to flower for this year. Normally they open in mid-November but I was tardy planting them and they are galloping to make up time. It is a small flower and measures intermediate being 58 mm in natural spread. Considering it is half trumpet and has a div. 3 and N. viridiflorus as grandparents on the other side it is not too bad. Some of this cross were distributed this year so it will be interesting to know what type of hardiness one can expect. With the trumpet and div. 3. in the ancestry they should be somewhat hardy. Despite the N. viridiflorus background it has a surprisingly short neck and it carries the flower at right angles to the stem.
