of Christchurch will be gone. Oops we have just had another shake.
We have friends who work in some of the collapsed buildings. That is a worry.
It will take years to recover from this. With lives lost it is more significant. Do we know any of these? The heart of our city has been devastated.
I believe that many buildings have been destabilised since September and just fell apart when today’s quake struck.
The Crown Plaza has been extensively damaged. Vicky and Larry Eicher were there a few nights ago and we travelled to look at Lyttleton where the quake was centred. We were planning to use the Crown Plaza for our National Show in September. NDS member Ross Spencer works there.
I went to buy tea tonight. 80% of the city has no power. There were queues onto the footpath and the shop I finally went to had sold out of most fast food lines.
Leitha, me and our family have been very lucky. Our minds are a mess again though.

Hello All,
Thanks David and Ross. It is a relief to know that you are all OK. Let’s all hope that the worst is over – although I fear that the death toll will lead to this being the worst natural disaster this country has ever experienced.
