Do I get extra points for the most birds in a back yard so far:-)) We have huge flocks of mixed species of blackbirds. In the second photo in the lower left hand corner there are two male Brown Headed Cowbirds, In the fore ground there is a mix of male and female Redwinged Blackbirds. Most of the birds in the flock are Common Grackles I think. Normally there will be some European Starlings and sometimes a Brewer’s Blackbird and or Rusty Blackbirds in these flocks. On occasion you will see more than a couple species of Grackles.
We are supposed to go down to single digits F tonight, I really hope not but they predict 80 hours now below 32*F. Almost unheard of for our area. This will kill off nearly all of the tazetta foliage and blooms that are already above ground. Keith Kridler Mt. Pleasant, Texas
