Dear David and all our friends in NZ
Also our sympathy from Holland. Our media was a little bit slow with news from NZ, soon we have elections and I think for them it this more important.
Tonight I saw on the news, the cathedral of Christchurch,I cannot believe that I walked there and was inside hardly a year and half ago. I have so many good
memories of the city. And I am speechless and only what I can say what other daffodil already said.  Let we think of them in our prayings.
All the best and stengthen for all.

Hi Folks,
Thank you all for your concern over Christchurch today. I was outside when the quake struck. Our house creaked and strained and we now have a few more loose bricks and cracks in the house. Many cupboards and the pantry spilled over the floor. Another big quake at 4pm gave rise to more concern. The house has just shaken again as I write.
Leitha was driving to Sumner when the quake struck. The shaking car was scary. I was worried the shaking may have put her off the road. I went to pick her up. People were avoiding the city and it took an hour to drive the last 1500m. Liquifaction has made a mess of roads all over the place.. The centre of the city is a mess with both the Anglican and Catholic cathedrals almost destroyed. Many other old buildings are down. The English face of Christchurch will be gone. Oops we have just had another shake.
We have friends who work in some of the collapsed buildings. That is a worry.
It will take years to recover from this. With lives lost it is more significant. Do we know any of these? The heart of our city has been devastated.
I believe that many buildings have been destabilised since September and just fell apart when today’s quake struck.
The Crown Plaza has been extensively damaged. Vicky and Larry Eicher were there a few nights ago and we travelled to look at Lyttleton where the quake was centred. We were planning to use the Crown Plaza for our National Show in September. NDS member Ross Spencer works there.
I went to buy tea tonight. 80% of the city has no power. There were queues onto the footpath and the shop I finally went to had sold out of most fast food lines.
Leitha, me and our family have been very lucky. Our minds are a mess again though.
