We’ve heard from Michael and Marian Brown and they and their girls and husbands are all OK. Power is out in the city and the traffic is gridlocked and phones down, including the cell network. 65 deaths now confirmed – devastating 6.3 quake, only 5km deep centred at Lyttelton so damage much worse than the September quake which was higher on the scale but 30km deep and 50km west of the city. Aftershocks have continued all afternoon (6.45pm now). Their girls and husbands are making their way out of Christchurch to stay with M & M at their home in Rangiora.
