mini 2Y-Os

On the right is one of my first attempts at a miniature 2Y-O or R. This is actually a sibling of ‘Itsy Bitsy Splitsy’ but lacking the smoothness and vigor. The perianth however is a burnished gold with orange highlights.  On the left is a new one from Jantje x willkommii.  It has all the color and smoothness one could wish for. We will have to see if it stays in the miniature range in future years. Hopefully some of its siblings, yet to bloom, may be smaller.

  1. VERY nice, Harold!  Congrats!

We had a good slow rain today and it just changed to snow at sunset, but I don't think we'll get much.  It looks like this one missed us.  Lots of foliage up here and some buds, but no flowers outdoors yet.

I sent a copy of your Jantje x N. willkomii photograph to Jan Dalton the original Jantje (his mother is Dutch) and he was very impressed.
