Attached is a photo taken many years ago when we lived in Tennessee. Paul was president of a company that made coated architectural glass. We had a lot of doors opening onto patios or decks in the house, and they all had the coated glass. You could only see one direction–toward the most light. So during the day, you could see the outdoors, but at night you could see from outside into the house. So the glass made a perfect “blind” for me to watch birds. There are 2 male cardinals, one female cardinal, sparrows, a purple or house finch, a goldfinch (I think, the one looking directly at the camera–you can just barely make out the gold under its neck), and a couple black ones that I can’t identify.

You have a couple of other birds here too, Mary Lou. The gray and white one in the foreground and in the left rear are Dark-eyed Juncos. The brown striped ones are female purple or house finches, and the bird behind the goldfinch(?) is a sparrow, possibly a first year White-crowned sparrow – it’s very hard to tell, but the bill has a pinkish hue to me. I love those cardinals. They are rare in our area. We had a male visit our feeders all last winter, but in the spring, after whistling for days to no avail, he finally left to seek a mate elsewhere.
Sharon,
That’s a nice goose George and he can walk on water as this picture demonstrates. :-0
