This is a photo of a fairly rare species Hippeastrum that isn’t often seen in collections. Raised from seed sent from the Doran Collection. Seed was sown in 1996 and took eight years to flower in greenhouse conditions. Hippeastrum cybister is a species from the Bolivian Andes. Weird looking but quite intriguing. It does have a strong architectural quality to the flower as well as a grace and a definite “presence”. One of those plants that people seem to either love or hate. Thought that some of you might enjoy seeing it.
