Late 3W-GYY Seedling

This is a photo of V03-155-27. It is a cross of: [(Evesham x Princeton) x (Cedar Hills x Moon Shadow)]. The color code is 3W-GYY. This is a large flower at 110mm in diameter. It combines some of the nicest attributes of all four parents. I feel that the dark green eye really causes the anthers to “pop”. Some Selections from this cross bloom at late season 3 or early season 4. A few seedlings have been touched with a darker orange rim aal ‘Princeton’ grandparent. This particular Selection blooms at the same time as one of my personal all time favorites, ‘Cedar Hills’. This seedling Selection is probably the last flower to bloom in this VERY late, extended daffodil season. In the 23 seasons here in Oregon, I’ve NEVER had a daffodil bloom on May 12th. I’m normally beginning to collect seed!

  1. Aren’t seasons strange? My season was compressed, and has been basically over for some weeks, except for ‘Baby Moon’ and some seedlings from it.
But what really surprised me today, is that I found potted daffodils for sale in the big grocery store here. It was a trumpet–I folded the perianth down to confirm. Who would be growing bulbs in pots for sale in May when people are now buying annuals to plant outside?

  2. Wow, that’s true Mary Lou !.. They’re usually gone from the potted displays way before now!. My season seemed a bit compressed too. But, I have to run accross town to check 2 different locations for blooms.
