Pipevine Swallowtail

  Very colorful butterfly, the metallic blue really stands out when the sun hits it just right. Hard to get a good picture as its wings are always moving. It doesn’t stay in one place long.

Tiger Swallowtail #3

Some of the female Tiger Swallowtails are black and mimic the Pipevine Swallowtail, which retains some of the poisonous properties of its host plant, Aristolochia(pipevine) and is most unplatable to its bird and lizard enemies. This helps to protect them.
