In 2008 Ron Scamp registered a 1Y-Y called Welsh Rugby Union sometimes called Grand Slam.

Thus, we have a sport and “grand slam” legitimately introduced into the restrictions of daffodil discussions only. Therefore I can legitimately extend this discussion to an amazing feat I was fortunate to witness tonight that has never been accomplished in 112 years of American major league baseball post season playoffs.

I was at the second game of the American League Championship series where the Texas Rangers’ Nellie Cruz hit a walk off grand slam home run in the bottom of the eleven inning to beat the Detroit Tigers 7-3 breaking a 3-3 tied score. It had never before been done in post season play.

For those of you across the Atlantic and in the Southern Pacific a grand slam home run is a home run hit with the bases loaded. A walk off hit is one that causes the game to end.

It was truly incredible event as no one in the packed stadium of a record 51,770 Ranger fans had left. The Rangers now lead the 7 game series 2-0 with the third game in Detroit tomorrow night.
