El Camino X N. viridiflorus – photo 2

Friends,

The picture attached is of the late Manuel Lima’s ‘El Camino’ X N. viridiflorus seedling.  My bulbs of this Lima seedling came from Larry Force who, if I remember correctly, acquired them from the late Dr. Frank Galyon of Knoxville, TN.  The photo was taken in my daffodil planting on December 31, 2011.

  1. Hello Ted and all,
Ted you are correct, I did get my start from Frank a number of years ago. I stopped by to see Frank on my way to the Smokey Mountains. Someone had sent the single bulb to him and he was afraid it would be too cold for it in Knoxville. He gave it to me, and the single bulb grew and multiplied well here in Mississippi. As a result, I have been able to share this with a number of people from that one bulb.
I have not been able to set seed on as a pod parent, but the pollen I have used has been from the freezer, it may or may not have been good. Cold temperatures could have been involved also. I have been able to set seed using it’s pollen though, in the spring. Perhaps some where down the road we can have a green cyclamineus trumpet. If I live long enough.
    – Regards,
    Larry in Southaven, Mississippi–
