Hi Brian and Daffnetters,
Certainly these seedlings don’t attain my breeding goals with
viridiflorus. Most of them are building blocks, upon which further
breeding can be done. At this stage of my viridiflorus breeding
program, I don’t consider it constructive to reduce the breadth of
possibilities, but rather I’m inclined to keep interesting forms and
colors for further future use.
Agreed that the proportions of #3 are not pleasing (did I sense your
saying grotesque?), but its unique corona might offer the opportunity
for developing a colorful, brash flower having popularity among the
gardening public.
I’m disappointed that you cannot get email to me. I’ll make inquiries
of Comcast from this end.
Cordially,
Bob

Hi Bob,
Are you talking about the one that you said needed grooming? That was the one I
liked for its cup with the marvelous colors. That bright green and good orange
are my favorite colors to use in floral arrangements. Ok, so it might need a
better perianth. Even a green one would be nice. Now that I think of it, a
flat and lighter green perianth would be spectacular and I would have to grow
lots of it to use in arrangements. I loved all the wonderful seedlings you had
on display in Murphys.
Keep going – lots of people are watching what you are doing.
