UC Davis has produced a very interesting WEB site by overlaying soil type maps from the USGS with Satellite imagery of your location.
Just enter a location ( I used my full address) and the overlays will show the soil type in your area,

Very cool WEB site Stephen! Thanks. We are very near the existing N. Canadian river and I have always suspected that at some point it was actually closer to our property. The WEB site describes our area as DUDE (dunes). Not only does that answer alot of my hort. questions and problems in our gardening here but those of paleo history nature.
