blooming in Ohio today — OUTDOORS

Friends,
This mini trumpet is the earliest I have ever had daffodils blooming outside in February. This (or its parent) has been the first to bloom for the last several years, opening around March 16. It’s an open pollinated seedling from a Link seedling (Wee Bee x cyclamineus). I have a bud coming on cyclamineus (outdoors–still several days away from blooming) so if it opens in time, maybe putting that pollen on this seedling would give a nice Div. 6.

It’s supposed to get colder the next few days, but nothing severe is predicted.

In pots I have N. dubius, N. x incurvicervicus (a hybrid between N. fernandesii and N. triandrus pallidulus), and a tazetta of uncertain name.

  1. This one has a nicely shaped trumpet and the petals are pretty smooth.  I will
hope for your cyclamineus to come into bloom soon enough.  I seems as if it
would be a good cross.  Lots of luck!
