Fortuna show – Best Standard Container Grown daffodil

As I mentioned in my previous post, many of the youth had been encouraged to grow a daffodil
in a pot. I didn’t write down the count, but I think there were more than 15 one gallon pots each
with one daffodil. Obviously, floriferousness is not achievable with only one bulb, so that’s
why the best exhibit in the class for standard cultivars grown and shown in a container has
only one bloom. But it was a very fine bloom! The important thing is that so many youth have
been taught to grow a daffodil. We hope the efforts at Fortuna to get youth involved continue.
The best exhibit was Manly 4Y-O exhibited by Kaitlin Lewis. There were several pots
labeled Manly, and the blooms all had the coloration you see below. I suspect the youths
were given misidentified bulbs to grow.
