Louisiana Daffodil Field

March 2,3 and 4th were the dates for open Daffodil Field near Dodson,La. This was the earliest they have ever bloomed and 22 percent were faded and gone then the day before the opening a very crushing rain did about 15 per cent down the drain. Thirty seven per cent gone sounds bad but no one expressed regrets and when I expressed regrets I was informed it was such a beautiful place that they only found joy and beauty. Because of the decreased number of blooms the crowd wondered slowly among the blooms and seemed to see everyone as a special beauty, I think a little over 700 people came and this is a very remote area.

It is a 4 acre field with 110 yr old pecan tree 2 huge oaks, 2 smaller pecans and 2 smaller oaks with a few more trees around.

My 16 year old granddaughter adopted from China when she was about 11 months old sold daffodils and made about $915.00 that was used to pay for a child’s surgery in China and half enough for another surgery. My daughter Tina and her husband Stan adopted 2 more Chinese children and Laura will return to China this summer on a missionary trip that will include taking children from an orphanage and have them stay in another building where they will have fun and games.
