The Texas Daffodil Society led by its tireless President, Karla McKenzie, hosted at the Dallas Arboretum Saturday one of the best Dallas shows ever. In addition to the horticultural show that included a photography section, there was also a NGC accredited design section. In the horticultural section 33 exhibitors had 336 entries with 509 stems! Fifteen photographers entered 32 photographs. This was exclusive of a special youth section consisting 28 photos entered by youth from the McKinney school district(see related link below). The design section with three Texas themed classes had 12 interesting entries enjoyed by all.

What was most impressive was the large crowd of participants(probably 40 or more) in the early morning scurrying about readying for the show while not wasting the moment to socialize with old and new friends.

Unfortunately, due an event conflict, it was a one day show with limited traffic due to the cool rainy day.

Also, this weekend the TDS hosted Judging School I with 13 student judges attending.

I will post show results after I obtain photos to accompany the report.

Below is a link to an article last week in the Dallas Morning News about the work RVP Ann Hibbs, ADS member Susan Flanagan and others are doing with youth in our communities.

Great photos of the Texas future of
ADS–we should all be doing such good
work with youth as your Master Gardeners
have done! I could not access the
article, but the photos speak for the
efforts of all the adults involved and
the students’ smiles show that they
    appreciate it!
