Daffodils on the ceiling

Recently I went to hear an after business speech at the main courtroom of the Ohio Supreme Court. The 1930 building and this court room are filled with various murals. Looking up at one of the lesser ones, I saw this:

Supreme court ceilingIncluded in there are a number of apparently unassociated things, an Indian head (buffalo) nickel [five cent piece for those of you abroad] of the era, apparently a couple sacks of flour, some lightning rod perhaps, and in the center a large vase with what appear to be stylized Division 2 or 3 daffodils. This admittedly poor picture from my phone might make them look a bit like roses, but I’m pretty sure not.

This room contains fifty murals in all. Many larger, one each depicting the states declared out of the Northwest Territory, the settlement of Marietta and so forth. A curator there noticed my interest at the end of the talk and subsequently even attempted to research this mural. She found nothing. Perhaps with fifty murals they ran out of subject matter? lol. Anyway, an interesting daff aside. One can get a much better look using this link which allows panning around the entire space and going close up. From the start point, this mural is up and left center on the ceiling. http://www.supremecourt.ohio.gov/MJC/virtual_tour/courtroom_vt.asp
