Earth Kind Daffodils

Earth Kind Roses are probably known now in most areas of the USA. There is a big push to develop lists of all sorts of plants that are “Earth Kind” across Texas and the rest of the USA.

I spent the day with Dr. Steve George who is currently doing more research into roses, perennials, Crepe Myrtle trees ETC.

They are looking for a list of five or six outstanding varieties of daffodils that will grow in any of the six regions of Texas. BUT they are also looking for short lists of daffodils that will grow reliably from year to year and come back year to year. These listed daffodils will then go through a three year research test in all different regions of Texas and then various places in other regions to make sure that they will be Earth Kind in each region of the USA.

Thought some of you all might want to contribute to this first ever list of “Earth Kind” daffodils off list. Probably a good place to start with would be the Wister awards list.

IF you are only going to pick five or six flowers then you would want to pick a variety of colors and divisions. These lists would go out to the various universities that are listing “Earth Kind” plants for different regions. Keith Kridler Mt. Pleasant, Texas
