Miniature 2Y-Y

This is V05-10-1 = Cayenne x N. calcicola. It is 34 mm (1.33″) in diameter. Bloom height is about 7″. The plant has narrow, keeled leaves that tend to be a more grayish green as in the species pollen parent. The flower has a half length, nicely fluted corona, so it is clearly a Miniature 2Y-Y. Really getting nice things from Ben Hager’s jewel like Intermediate 2Y-R, ‘Cayenne’. The N. calcicola used as the pollen parent was one of the nicest forms I’ve raised.
One of the notable improvements exhibited by this flower is the heavy, thick substance. Unlike so many, many other Miniatures here, this flower would not be embarrassing if blown up to Standard daffodil size. Were such a thing possible, It might well compete favorably in Standard Classes. I don’t believe that I’ve EVER said that about any other Miniature daffodil.
I think this is a very nice, small little flower.
