Doubles

Hi Daffnetters, The seedling doubles have not been exceptional so far this season, but I was pleased to mark this big 4 W – Y

J F M – 012 bred Phillips 2 W – P 82 64 8 – x – 4 W – O Landslide sdlg.

A big flower, 110 mm, very thick, strong stem and neck. Pleasing, well layered form, exhibition style — very promising. Quite round, clean white perianth, slightly rising center with mid yellow petaloids.

Other photos show it with Peggydale ( last email ) comparing the form. Our judges certainly prefer the formal style, well layered and higher centered. The rosette style tend to be more jumbled in the centers, but certainly show more petaloid colour to the viewer, — probably more eye-catching, particularly if the colours are very contrasting. Usually a lot more rosette style flowers in the seedling beds than the elusive show champions, but they are all beautiful in their own way.

Cheers John.
