Daffodils with more than six petals.

Proof that this is not a one house wonder. Betty was also the source of the other bulbs. From Graeme Flemming’s comments we may have to add another Horticultural division. The flowers of this one are actually very attractive.

  1. I love it and look forward to its naming and release.

For show purposes, have any shows added a Novelty class that this could fit into?

  2. Hello Bill,
To answer your question The Daffodil Society Show schedule has each year Class 20

20.One seedling from any division, raised by the exhibitor. To be judged on its novelty value relating to style or colour combination.

So it could be shown in that, but I’m not to sure how it would be received!

As for naming it’s division ! We all ready have Irish Div 6’s, so a NZ Div 6 would not be out of place! I’m not sure about a Div 4 as it should double to 12 not 10, although a few say “the more the merrier”. But I think you could get it in as Div 12.

We set standards so that we can conform and know where we are but every now and then something outside the norm breaks though and pushes the boundaries, we should not dismiss it but research it and see what we have, only time will tell, mother nature always has a way of sorting things out.

    Best Wishes to All,

    Ian
