Floral Art is always very strong at the Otaki Show .
Just over 20 designs from7 arrangers put on an excellent display .
I provide about 40 bunches of 8 flowers for the ladies ; they collect
their flowers and leave their entries at my mothers , on the Wednesday
before the Friday show .The bunch mix is about equal yellow backs and
white backs , all types included .
When I checked on Thursday morning how the bunches were lasting , all the whites
had gone and there were 7 yellows left .As mum also wanted whites , the end
preferences for floral art was whites over yellows – ratio 2 – 1 .
I was actually quite surprised at their choices – but enjoyed the results .
The arrangement using 11 W – WPW caused the most comment – we put up
a small sign with the name after dozens of requests . Flower is ” Diversity ”
Best use of daffodils was the natural looking arrangement which the
judge said looked just like daffs growing in the garden .
Merit Ribbon for best in show went to the tall arrangement with a few
daffs — judge said excellent mechanics and great balance .
