‘Yuletide’ – 10W-W

This is a large pan of my ‘Yuletide’ that was watered in early September. Many buds to come on this pan with several more pots to flower that were held dry and watered in early October. This is the earliest that this has flowered for me. Pots started in early October always bloom around Christmas.

  1. Steve, This is lovely!  What is the parentage for ‘Yuletide’?

Our ‘Spoirot’ seedlings have big buds and will be blooming in a few weeks – very early. Paper Whites are already blooming on the side of the hill.

  2. ‘Yuletide’ is my selection from a huge population of an Ed Zinkowski cross of : [(N. bulbocodium obesus x Nylon group) x N. cantabricus foliosus ‘Peter Watkins’] . The seedlings were only two years old and unflowered when Ed died.

This particular clone increases well but does not split and divide so fast that the offsets will not flower. Many bulbocodium seedlings increase and split so fast that they do not flower annually. Annual flowering is a supremely important trait in my estimation. ‘Yuletide’ was selected  due to its slower but steady increase and the ability to give fewer but flowering size offsets.

  3. Steve –

This is gorgeous.  Heather will love having a pan of it on her Christmas table.
