The 2013 Livermore Daffodil Show was March 2 and 3 at Alden Lane Nursery. Though the show was early and the season late, more than 900 stems appeared to make a very respectable showing.  I will post the winners of ADS awards with three separate postings.  This one is of awards for standard daffodils with a single cultivar in the exhibit.  Other postings will be of miniatures and of standard exhibits consisting of multiple cultivars.

The Gold Ribbon is for the best standard daffodil in the show excluding the historic and container classes. The winner was ‘Ivory Yellow’ 2Y-Y exhibited by yours truly. This was the name that John Reed applied for, but the RHS said there was already a cultivar of this name. We don’t know what the registered name will be, but we hope it will be known by the time the September Daffodil Journal with all the show reports goes to press. I don’t how well the picture shows it, but the perianth is pale yellow.

The best container of standard daffodils was ‘Cornish Chuckles’ 12Y-Y exhibited by yours truly. There’s some question as to whether this is really ‘Cornish Chuckles’ or a sibling. As I got this from a mass marketer, there’s no way to know if a substitute cultivar was supplied.

Lovely collection of photos to remind us all why we’re replanting our bulbs down under. Thankyou Kirby.
