‘Lima’s Verdant Jet’

Here is one of the more unusual of Manuel Lima’s flowers. This is the hybrid between Jetfire and N. viridiflorus. It can make two flowers on the stem and while the cup is shortish it is much longer than what one normally finds with a first generation N. viridiflorus cross. Also unusual is the hint of orange that develops in the corona. In some years it has been darker. If I remember correctly Bob Spott’s has a sister clone that does not develop the orange coloring. The corona here  is longer than in Lima’s Green Road (El Camino x N. viridiflorus). Some year I must try and cross the two and see if the long N. cyclamineus trumpet can be recovered. Unfortunately my stock of this is now down to a single bulb, the remaining plant looks strong and I hope I can build the stock up again.

  1. The sister clone is registered as ‘Limanade’. I have only a clump of it.
