The Dahlia section was also well supported and very colourful .
Those on the N Z World Convention Daff tour would have met both
Brian MacKenzie and Alistair Davey .Brian was our dahlia judge for
the day and is one of the best in the country , on the top panel for
the Dahlia National in Levin this weekend .
The tour visited the gardens of Alistair and Joan Davey ; Alistair is on the
N D S Execitive and is also a keen dahlia exhibitor and breeder , with many
seedlings registered with the ” Rural ” prefix .I spotted two of his registrations
Rural Sharyn was on the Premier table for grower Phil Bothamley .Rural Joan was exhibited by
Frank Newman .Champion Bloom was ” Hamari Accord ” , grown by Phil .
Also a few other bright dahlias to help warm the Northern Winter .
John,
Thanks for the posting. Your photos of both glads and dahlias did brighten a cold, wet, dreary winter day!
