N. blanchardii Zonn.

Checking out the Zonneveld article at https://openaccess.leidenuniv.nl/handle/1887/13962 I came across a tetraploid in the Jonquillae section that I am unfamiliar with: N. blanchardii Zonn.

Can someone shed light on what this is–seems this would be useful for breeding.

  1. For those who don’t want to type in the URL in Bill’s message above, go to http://www.dafflibrary.org and click on Science, Cytology, and then on “The Systematic value of nuclear DNA content for all species of Narcissus.”  (Had to get in a plug for the library.)

It looks to me like the material was sent to Dr. Zonneveld as N. fernandesii, and he saw something different, and he named it N. blanchardii.  That article was published in 2008, and I don’t know if the name has gained acceptance with other botanists.
