The Throckmorton Award is for 15 standards, each one exhibiting a different color classification.  This class is a special favorite of mine, as it demonstrates what I most love about daffodils – variety!  I made an effort to include one of Dr Throckmorton’s own flowers (Star Wish) in his eponymous collection.  The exhibitor was me, and the flowers were: Back Row: Greenbrier 3 W-GWW, Night Hawk 2 Y-O, Nordic Rim 3 W-WWY, Grand Prospect 2 Y-W, Girasol 1 Y-P; Middle Row: Pacific Rim 2 Y-YYR, Bella Coola 2 W-W, Goldfinger 1 Y-Y, Star Wish 3 W-GYR, Chromite 2 O-O; Front Row:  Birthday Girl 2 W-GWW, Triple Crown 3 Y-GYR, Mission Bells 5 W-W, Lemon Honey 2 YYW-YYW, Cantabile 9 W-GYR.

Finally, I would like to mention a special award, the Betty Jean Forster Award, which honors one of the founders of the Oregon Daffodil Society and a much-missed friend.  It is awarded to the best exhibit in Division 6.  The award went to David Smith for his 6 W-P seedling.

I now have a renewed admiration for Kirby Fong, Tom Stettner, and all the other wonderful contributors who post photos and show reports to DaffNet – this is a lot of work!

best regards, Theresa
