Kiwi – spring moving

Hi Folks,

Time we had some Kiwi spring flowers as we have had a comparatively warm winter and the cut flower daffs have been underway for a month or so.

Malvern City, a very widely grown commercial flower, is in peak production in most North Island gardens as we are having a week or so of mild winter temps.

A few show quality flowers are appearing; a splendid all white seedling from John Hunter was the motivation to post some photos.

I had been lamenting to John H. that there was a  shortage of quality early whites to cross with my early  doubles, chasing early white doubles. Last season he kindly sent me 4 selections he had kept from a 1993 cross. The first two have flowered here this season and are very impressive.

The cross is J A H  3 – 93 ;  [ Penguin x ( Glendermott x Kotuku ) ]  –  x  –  Canisp
