  1. Your McQ seedlings are outstanding!  Thanks so much for sharing them. :-)

  2. As an amateur hybridizer, I have started looking more carefully at seedlings. I have to say I really like your J33 seedling from (Hilite x 2W-R).

  3. Hello All,

Denise would be too humble to tell you this but she is now at the top level of New Zealand hybridisers.  At the South Island National Show this year (held last week) she won the top level  Raisers Championship Class with an excellent set beating John Hunter who had two entries.  A visit to the McQuarrie’s home on Sunday allowed Convention goers to see for themselves a beautiful array of seedlings which are world class.  The World Convention tour visited their garden last year and were, in the words of one of the Americans on the tour “blown away”   Lesley and I are pleased to count Denise and Neil (her husband and the Bloke) amongst our very good friends.    Those of you who have received the 2013 UK Daffodil Yearbook will find another of Denise’s seedlings featured – it is the best 2WR that I have seen.

Daffodil season finished in our part of the North Island.   We had our final show on Saturday – still some very good flowers around but many showing their age.

    Cheers,

    Peter

  4. Hi Everyone,

I would have to agree with all that Peter has said. The seedlings that Denise and Neil are producing are of the highest quality, there are many more yet to be seen on the show bench. Anyone who visits the MacQuarrie property at Ngatimoti cannot help but be impressed by the luxuriant growth and the beautiful surroundings, it is daffodil heaven on earth.

    Cheers Robin

  5. We certainly agree with Peter and Robin. We enjoyed the rich visual feast of the McQuarrie’s daffodils and their hospitality lat Monday.
